About

This blog examines the importance of social responsibility in the hotel industry. The course of our research touches on why socially responsible practices have become so prevalent. In order to explain this subject in a credible way, we begin by describing the competitive climate that hoteliers work in.  Then, we want focus on the kinds of certifications that hotels can obtain for sustainability.  These forms of substantiation allow hotels to project their intangible initiatives in a tangible way.  Our informative posts encompass several different segments of the hotel industry.  Therefore, the wide range of examples that we employ are crucial.  Specifically, we provide information and suggestions for B&B’s, boutique hotels, small inns, and corporate chains.  The wide scope of cases that we present allow our audience to see our research and opinions from an unbiased and educated point-of-view.  The purpose of our blog is to provide insights on how hotels use sustainability to differentiate themselves, in order to attract and retain clients.

This is a timely topic due to the recent upbringing of sustainability in hotels. With technology evolving and more tools being created to increase sustainability, there are more ways to reduce damage to the environment within this industry. With more ways to achieve this responsibility of going “green”, certificates are constantly being created and modified to genuinely distinguish sustainability within a company.  This is a fairly new competitive factor that hotels must consider if they want to compete with any other hotel practicing sustainability.

Our Mission Statement:

Our goal is to provide valuable insights about sustainability in the hospitality industry to educated men and women, and hotel decision makers. The research guiding our posts will focus on sustainability, certifications, and efficiency.  The majority of our examples will focus on market leaders like Hyatt, Hilton, and Marriott.  We will also feature smaller hotel chains, and independent brands, to help explain how socially responsible initiatives can add value for all hotels.  The culmination of our research will show that consumers are increasingly seeking accommodations with companies that share their same values; the substantiation of a real future gain, should prove that socially responsible initiatives are worth the short term costs.
